Daily Commute, 2025, this quilt is a map. It tracks the long road my dad and I used to take to get to work at a sawmill and the things we’d see along the way. It also maps what it was like to go to work alongside men (I was just a lad at the time) and all of the social and economic conditions I/we must navigate at our jobs.
I repurposed old work clothes like coveralls, gloves and shirts and explored using symbols and text to help the viewer better understand the emotional and physical elements involved.
